My 1st run of 2008

The doc had actually given me the go-ahead to run ages ago. About a month ago to be specific. But I just hadn't felt up to it. In fact, I still feel really tired and nauseas all the time.

Anyway, I had cycled on the trainer on Sat, so I decided to go for a short run the next day. I charged my iPod and dreamt about a suitable running route the night before...

Sunday morning - I did a slow paced 5km round the estate.... It was about 8am and I had to get a short run in before Paul got back from his long run in east coast and before the kids woke. I knew they would sleep in today cos they went to bed late last night.

It was no walk in the park that's for sure. I kept it a slow pace all the way. (Took about 30 min) Apparently I am not to go beyond 150bpm anyway. Not that I was wearing a HRM. I could barely remember how to work the timer on my watch. Forget the HRM for now! I was tired but not crazy panting like my usual.

I had all the familiar feelings that I had when I first started any form of running about a year ago. My thighs started to itch! Put it down to poor circulation. I actually ached the next day from this slow 5km run! How pathetic am I...

Well, it is a start...
