Anyway with many missed / failed runs, and what have you, I decided that I have to really get my long runs in quickly before I have to taper*! How can I taper when I haven't even increased my training!
I referred to the little piece of paper the whole way. It burned a hole in my hand as I ran... I went slow most of the way cos I was just too worried about not being able to finish. The pacing table did help me a lot. I was slower by some minutes in the end, but it helped me all the same. As I approached the end of the 14km route, I decided to make a minor detour to do a 15.1km route. I figured another 7 min of agony to make a 15km run is better than having to do another whole 15km run on another day from scratch. Managed to finish the 15.1km in about 1hr 47 min. Quite a terrible time at 7min pace but boy am I glad I finished!!!! YAY!
Long run done for this week.... I was in a great mood all evening with the long-run-burden lifted off my shoulder. :) Oh, why can't I love running....
Next week I am supposed to do 18km according to the stupid beginner training plan. Bah!...
* Taper is when you have to slowly decrease the amount of training you do as you approach race day so that your body isn't too tired for the race.

You sure have running genes/talent/whatever! Just so you have an idea of how good you are, I ran 15k in 2 hours OK??? (PAssion Run in June)
Well on your way to finish the 21K!
Well done! :D
Thanks for encouragement! :)
You have improved SO MUCH since your Passion Run though.
I still can't believe you completed your first 1/2 marathon with NO TRAINING! As I am doing my long runs now, I am beginning to realise how impossible that is! THAT is serious talent!
ruth is right.. i think you are a natural at running, and swimming as well.. once you get your confidence back on the ride, you'll be kicking some ass at OSIM next year!
continue to get your long runs in and YOU have the mental strength to do the impossible gogomama! =P
Lin, Every single longish run I do,.... without fail I will think about you running to NIE from Punggol,.... and when I am feeling like giving up (which is every few steps after the 10km mark)I will be like "What am I complaining about! Lin can run from PUNGOOL!!!"
Congrats dear.......... Now I am inspired to do my long-run! Maybe tomorrow? :)
Snail-Elaine
wow! 15km is great stuff!
my longest is still at 10km. and seriously, i dont intend to push for more already! hahaha..
good job peng!
Pat, that's good thinking.... After I am done with the half marathon, no more! I don't actually think that running more than 10km:
1. Is particularly good for my health in general seeing as you are pounding on your knees for hours.
2. Is practical from a time perspective with 3 kids and work.
3. Most importantly - Would help me to lose anymore weight :P
