The Tiny Feet Gene Strikes Again...

I have always been conscious of my tiny feet. I am now about a UK size 4 I think (35.5 EUR). I also think each pregnancy helped increase my shoe size permanently by a little!

People always think that big feet are a pain, but having small feet are a pain too.... you perpetually look like you have bound feet and when you wear high heels,.... suddenly your feet look even tinier!!!!

The other day I was just standing in the lift and caught the site below....

Looks like Cate was not spared by the tiny feet genes... Sorry sweetie.... you got that from Mummy's side of the family. Nanny is like a size 2!!!

To exercise or not to exercise.....

Lilypie Expecting a baby Ticker

Well,... I am into my 2nd trimester now and have pretty much got the green light from the OBGYN to do whatever activities my body is used to doing from before I was pregnant.

Somehow, I am not jumping at it though. When I first stopped, I was all grumpy and pissed off about having to be all inactive,.... but now I am all dragging my feet. Well, I think part of it is that I am still not out of the 1st trimester "feeling crappy" blues. I am perpetually STARVING with NO APPETITE. It is a strange and very frustrating position to be in.

Anyway last night, after much deliberation, I concluded that I will not start any exercise until I get my appetite back cos extra activity will just get me hungrier and it would SUCK more to be EVEN MORE STARVING with STILL NO APPETITE. I was happy with that decision....

Will keep y'all updated!!!.....

Me and My ASUS

Me and My ASUS

Check out what gadgety-hubs got me. The ASUS Eee PC. I've always told him from years back that I want a small basic laptop that I can just switch on and off without all the palava of boot ups and shutdowns. Nothing fancy, just basic functionality. I didn't want a PDA cos this stylus business just never took off with me.

Believe it or not, they didn't have anything really worth talking about until now - The ASUS Eee PC for less than SGD600!!!

It runs on Linux which is a pretty lightweight OS yet I can pretty much do most of what I like to do..... e.g. Surfing (blogging), MSN, email. The keyboard while small, is large enough for me to be able to touch type. I can't really work on it cos I need a bigger keyboard and screen to be able to work properly for long hours... but I didn't get this to do work on anyway, so no issue. I got it more for the last bit of blogging or messaging in bed before lights out. Or maybe something to bring with me for a pedicure or foot reflexology. (It fits into my handbag easily.) With Wireless@SG, you can pretty much get connectivity anywhere!

Ahh.... I am addicted. I just turn it on in the evenings lying in bed just for the hell of it.... Thanks Paul! :x One of the few gadgets you've bought me that I actually like.... :P

Donut Night

We had dinner across the road and noticed that Renaldo's the dessert place that used to have really good strawberry strudel (pretty much the same as Ritz Apple Strudel) has been replaced by a donut place. (I forget the name). Anyway we thought we would give the kids a treat, so the Chew's had Donut Night!!!

I am not sure that it is the same standard as the popular donut joints like Donut Factory but it could be because there was no long queue to sway my judgement... Anyway I am not a donut person at all so I am not the best judge.

Emma and Cate enjoying their DONUTS!!!

They had these really CUTE baby donuts. Perfect for the girls. Check it out below.

The Hunt for TWIGLETS!!!

Ok,... so who has some twiglets for me. I am not really sure if they have them in Singapore but the last time I had them was when I was in school in London. The packaging was different then though (white).

Anyway, this is probably related to my Marmite craving, but I kind of need some Twiglets. So if you have some,... GIMME!!! or if you know where I can get hold of some.... TELL ME!!!!....

Feed me..... FEED ME NOW!!!!

What a lovely mess behind me...

I am always working in my study,.... and one day I was so absorbed in my work, I didn't realise that Emma and Cate had happily snuck into my study and made themselves at home! I turned around and was greeted by a lovely mess of little girls behind my chair!!!..... HAPPINESS..... :D

Child-Friendliness....

Check out this toilet at the Hong Kong airport. There is a little baby seat so that you can place your baby there while you go about with whatever you need to do in the loo.

For those who haven't got kids,.... I guess you don't realise that when poor mummy is out alone with say her 6 month old tot without a stroller (using a carrier instead which I often did), you pretty much have to just HOLD IT ALL IN till you get home!!!

I have seen this in Japan as well..... How I wish Singapore would get more child-friendly like this.

Highlights on how Singapore is NOT child-friendly:
  • No baby seats in toilet as shown in pic above

  • There are stairs everywhere going into shopping centres. It may be a little flight of 5 steps but I still have to carry the freakin' pram up and down those same 5 steps!!!

  • Many toilets don't have changing tables. Some buildings that do, ONLY have them in the ladies toilets!!!! What if I am out with Paul and it is NOT MY TURN!!!!

  • Not many nursing rooms around.

I go out with the kids alone quite a lot, so this child-UNfriendliness is quite apparent to me.

Ok,.... to be fair, Singapore is great for kids in lots of other ways:

  • Safe

  • Clean

  • Good education (debatable to be too stressful)

  • Good health care

  • Most restaurants have high-chairs
Anyway,....comon' Singapore!!!..... get your act together!!!

Sweet messages of love....

Look at what I found in Emma's school bag!!!! How cute is that!

I especially LOVE the drawing of the 3 little girls at the bottom of the page with 2 strands of hair each!!! Emma seems to be missing her arms too! Haha....

Mr & Mrs Chew in Hong Kong

Our holiday to Japan was lovely,.... but with the kids and the skiing and the whole extended family.... Paul and I were exhausted and needed another vacation to recover!

My old old friends from Uni were getting married to each other in Hong Kong, so we found the perfect excuse to scoot away for a quick holiday - just the 2 of us. The kids stayed at my mum's where they had perpetual play mates (their cousins). :P I missed them terribly but let's get on with the Hong Kong story...

Our Hotel:

We stayed at a really nice boutique hotel in Causeway Bay called Lanson Place Hotel. It was a tad pricier than I would have liked but I was happy with it. Our "Grand Delux" room was titchy. Made me wonder what the regular rooms would've been like! We did have a small living room and an eensy kitchenette. Anyway one of the highlights of the hotel was the DVD library! The hotel could boast a pretty extensive DVD library with many of the latest movies (e.g. Oceans 13, Fantastic Four II, Die Hard 4 etc....) Call me boring but I watched a lot of stuff. :P

Well as it is for most ppl visiting Hong Kong, there was a lot of shopping going on. But I paced myself. I allowed myself a mid-day nap almost everyday to recharge. I was not joking when I said we were exhuasted. Paul took that opportunity during my naps to work out in the gym. How bad did that make me feel right??.... Anyway I wasn't planning on buying much being the size that I am now. Paul did most of the buying. (Vainpot!)

Crappy "self-timer" pic of Paul and I at the hotel lounge.

My favourite "restuarant" in Hong Kong:

I was feeling nausea the whole time and there was only ONE PLACE that didn't make me feel ill where I could effortlessly chow down a full meal..... Pret a Manger!!!!! It was one of my favourite lunchtime haunts in uni days. The sandwiches in the HK Pret looked a little smaller than how I remembered them to be in London, but what the hell,.... with some crisps, they were freakin' awesome!!!!

We met up with my old old old dear friend Marcus C. from London school days and his fiance Anne.

They took us to eat lovely lobster noodles. For some reason I was trying to eat all the stuff I used to eat in London! For those of you who were in London, you remember the Mandarin Kitchen (Bayswater) lobster noodles. Yum! Not exactly the same as in London, but still pretty darn good!

I know this looks so cruel, lobster in bag and all,.... but it made a mean lobster noodle. :P

The Salon:

We couldn't spend ALL our time shopping and watching DVDs, so we decided to go to the salon -"HAIR". That's where I got my stupid fringe. I don't think it was the stylist's fault. This is just something I do when I am bored with my hair (i.e. bangs) and I almost always regret it. Actually it looked quite good when he first cut it where it was somewhat a heavy fringe, but later he kind of thinned it without my knowing (to my horror, but...oops,.... too late)

The picture above is not really to show you my transient haircut but rather show you my hairstylist (George). The hat and scarf and all was all FOR REAL! He was dressed like some kind of a pop star or something! .... and he was seriously dressed like this throughout the haircut. I guess it is a Hong Kong thing, but it had Paul and I in giggles the entire time..... See my grin in the picture? It's cos I knew Paul was taking a picture of George and not me...

Paul had his haircut too but sorry no picture of him cos as you can see above, I was also getting my nails done.

Here's a picture of me after my haircut..... but really the highlight of this picture is not the profile view of my hideous bangs but rather my fab Bottega Shades. Check them out!!!!

The Wedding:

Alright, let me get to the whole point of our Hong Kong trip.... Meng & Gio's wedding @ The Island Shangrila Hotel. I would say that the "format" of the wedding was pretty similar to the typical Singapore wedding except the food was much better. Also I was VERY impressed by how all the guests got photo quality pictures at the end of that evening of themselves from the wedding (taken on THAT SAME evening) Singapore needs to step up to keep competitive!

Mr & Mrs Chew

Number 3 is on the way!!!!

Lilypie Expecting a baby Ticker

It is a little early to be letting the cat out of the bag but there has since been a leak, so I thought I'd share the GREAT NEWS with y'all!!!

Paul and I are ecstactic. Not to mention Emma! (She was the main source of the leak...)

Everyone immediately assumes that we are "trying for a boy". The truth is, we want 3 (or more) regardless (ok, admitted, if I had 2 boys already, I would have thought very hard in fear of ending up with 3 boys!!!) I am completely 50/50 about how I would feel about having either a girl or boy. If I had a boy, it would be so great cos he would be a new experience (from a gender perspective anyway), if we had a girl,... it would also be so great since girls are,.... well,.... SO GREAT!!!! (speaking from 1st hand experience!)

The most important thing is that our baby is healthy. So all of you privvy to this information, pray for our baby to be strong and healthy! :D While you are talking to the number 1 guy up there, you can also pray for my "all-day-sickness" to end. :P

Skiing @ Japan, Sahoro

Have been away during the festive season and never got round to downloading our holiday pics,... but I am back back back!!!! Sorry for the long quiet period....

We actually went traveling with my whole extended family but unfortunately with all the chaos of traveling in a group of 14, we never ever got a picture of all of us throughout the trip. Below is the best I could find... Haha... That was us in transit at the Tokyo airport.....

This wasn't the first time the kids saw snow but I guess they wouldn't have remembered much from Whistler 2 yrs ago. They loved being reacquainted with the snow.....

Our first night playing snow....bbrrrrrrr!!!!!!.......

I would give 2 thumbs up to Club Med Sahoro. They had great childcare services. On the first day when Cate was in the childcare facilities, I basically spent the entire day stalking her looking through windows, spying at whatever they were doing,.... and I would say they were great! It was funny cos they thought that Cate was a Japanese little girl and spoke Japanese to her the entire first day. Apparently she was responding! Below is a video I took of Cate at the childcare. As you can see from the table legs, I was literally hiding under a table commando-style! In case you were wondering,.... I was hiding from Cate and not the teachers. As soon as Cate sees me, she would wail and want me to take her.

Paul & I at the top of the world....
