Singapore Bay Run

The results for the Singapore Bay Run that Paul and I participated in are out! I did the 12km run and came in 24th/334 (Net Time - 1:13:50) I would say not too shabby considering this is the very first time in my life I am running 12km! The only other running event I had participated in earlier this year was the 5.6km JP Morgan fun run (which was pretty darn UN-fun)
The Singapore Bay Run compared with the JP Morgan fun run was FAR better... We could pretty much run the whole way and the routes were wide enough so that there were no real bottlenecks throughout. There was only 1 traffic light stop (ok, ideally there should be none, but I heard last year's run had traffic stops all over the place!) The beginning of the run along Shenton way was also really nice... somewhat surreal running through all the tall office buildings.
Paul did the Half Marathon and came in 879th/3324 (Net Time 2:03:52) Bravo baby!!!
I still prefer tris to "running only" races but I guess it is good practice. :)

Supermarket Sweep!
You can bring them to zoos and fairs and whatever,.... but their favourite outing is still riding the trolley together in the supermarket. Look at their faces! One would have thought they were on a Disneyland ride!!!.....and they are only at the facial wash section!

Presenting Little Miss Chloe Rose Oon!

I nicked this from Gin's blog.... it is absolutely my most most favourite pic!!!!! I love the size difference of baby and mummy's heads!!!
Baby Chloe is a treasure. Look at her PERfect little itty-bitty pea head next to mummy's proud radiant face.
**Ok Gin, it is not a great one of you, but who looks good after carrying a whole-nother human in her body for 40 weeks right?!
Anyway, Chloe looks just like Sheng, and it is especially good cos her HAIR is like Sheng's! How cool is THAT!
Anyway CONGRATULATIONS Ginny and Sheng! Emma has been been bugging me to see Kai Ma and Baby Chloe so I am going to be dropping in on you guys real soon whether you like it or not!!!!

Chews harmonising...

Check this out. Papa and girls singing karaoke on a school night! Cate's mic doesn't really work but she doesn't know that. It used to be Ems' mic but she smartened up! Karaoke-ing is one thing that is motivating emma to learn how to read! She reckons once she can read, there would be no stopping her!

Song for Papa....

"You may not be far nor gone for long,..... but we miss you papa and wrote you this song..... And the story goes dee-da-dee, dee-da-dee-da-dee-da-dee, dee-da-dee...."
Ok, we need to work harder on our "sad faces" but we do pretty darn well with our smiling faces!

Come back soon and we will be all smiling again!!! Meanwhile,.... we will sleep in your bed :P
Love you papa! xoxoxo

Swimming Training: If there's a will, there's a way....
Well,... with kids, it gets a little harder to continue with training,... but if there's a will there's a way. Paul is kicking up and down the pool with Cate sitting in her Hello Kitty car float. It is actually quite a bit harder than using a kick board! I guess we just have to be imaginative!
Happy National Day y'all!

Zoom zoom!....
Haven't really ridden on it cos am still scared of the roads,... but I am going to do this! There was a choice between this one and another frame that pretty much all black (see pic on right). My usual taste would be to get the all black one, but this one with a the red and white was so much more sporty looking! Maybe it was the National Day spirit in me...
Room Mates...
There was quite a lot to consider! Will they wake each other up? ... What happens to Cate's morning routine of transfering from cot to mattress for her milk followed by the additional hr nap before waking up properly (I know, she is a high maintenance one.)....Will Cate fall off her bed?....
Well anyway I had a major constraint and that was that IKEA had DISCONTINUED the same bed that Emma has! Of course the sisters had to have matching beds! So I spent a couple of months casually looking for a 2nd hand one not really thinking I would find it and also secretly thinking that this means I have to put off dealing with all those questions/doubts I had!
Anyway, on Sunday, a lovely mother of 4 decided to sell 2 of these beds! I bought just the one of course and straight to IKEA that same night to get a mattress. The first night was so cute,.... I had my baby monitor (LCD and sound) so I could see and hear what was going on. Cate and Emma were singing and chatting all night. Emma would go to Cate's bed to pat her to sleep,... then back to her bed..... In the end I think Emma was tiring of Cate's non-stop singing and fell asleep. The room wasn't quiet till 11:30pm! Cate woke before Emma and continued to sing! When Emma came into my room, she looked exasperated "Mummy, Cate didn't sleep the whole night! She was singing when I slept, and she was still singing when I woke up! What do we do!"
Luckily this novelty has worn off and the hr long singing and chatting is now more like 5-10min. Totally manageable even on a school night. ;)
One unchartered area though is afternoon naps in the same room,.... not sure how that is going to work out! Will keep you posted!

Birthday Dinner @ Sentosa, Il Lido Restaurant
Paul took me for a nice birthday dinner to Il Lido at Sentosa. The food was not bad but it was pretty noisy! Kind of like a chinese restaurant.
Service was very good.

OSIM Triathlon - 2007
Paul and I completed the OSIM triathlon sprint!
It was a gloomy day but Paul and I were psyched for our first tri. The transition area was really muddy and icky,... but nothing could dampen our moods to complete our first tri. I came in 46th/115 with an overall time of 1hr 42 min. Not fantastic, but I would say I am pleased. :)
750m Swim: 19 min (27/115) The swim turned out to be my most challenging leg. It was quite an experience swimming in the sea. Prior to this, I had swum in the sea during the OSIM tri clinics but it was much harder on the actual day cos the route was much longer.
20km Bike: 55 min (85/115) The time includes the 2 transitions times before and after the bike ride. I would say the actual bike ride was approx 50min. It started out bad cos just after I mounted and was moving off, the cyclist in front of me stopped suddenly. I braked suddenly too to prevent hitting her and ended up flying off over the handle bars. Actually it sounds a lot worse than it actually was. Surprisingly, I was barely scratched. Collin kindly let me borrow his yellow mountain bike for training and the race and luckily it wasn't damaged in my fall! Lots of ppl were overtaking me all over the place. I was beginning to be a hazard hogging the lane! I think this is probably an area that I would need to brush up on.
5km Run (jog): 28.5min (19/115) I was pleasantly surprised with my time here considering I could barely run 2km at the beginning of the year. I think I could have run a little faster too but I was too worried that I wouldn't have enough energy to make it to the end so kept trying to conserve my energy. :)
Paul did really well too. He completed his in 1hr 34 min. (S:23min, B:43.5min, R:27.8min). We both had lots of fun and will certainly be doing this again!
As it turned out, there were lots of family participating! Nic & Matt were in the kids tri. Nicolas came in 46th and Mathieu came in 16th! Very well done! They hardly trained at all! Imagine how they would do if they were to train a little! Andrew (my cousin, Karen's hubby) was part of the corporate relay where he did the swim leg (750m). Well done too!
